NSW Government Battery Rebate Program Fact Sheet

          Program Overview

The NSW government announced that starting November 1, 2024, new battery incentives will be available for homes and businesses with rooftop solar systems. These incentives, under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS), will support the installation of residential battery storage and connection to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), helping users maximise their solar energy usage and reduce electricity bills. To benefit from these incentives, collaboration with an accredited supplier is required. The initiative aims to enhance grid reliability and stability, decrease reliance on fossil fuels during peak demand, and contribute to a 70% reduction in NSW's emissions by 2035, with a goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Easy Step-by-Step Guide to Avail the NSW Government Battery Incentive Rebate

Step 1: Prepare and Check Your Eligibility

To begin, confirm that your property is located within New South Wales (NSW) and assess your current energy setup. Determine whether you already have a rooftop solar system or if you'll need to install both solar panels and a battery. It's crucial to review your past electricity bills to understand your typical energy consumption patterns. Additionally, consider your long-term energy needs; for instance, if you plan to add an electric vehicle (EV) charger or expand your energy usage in the future. This assessment will help determine the size and capacity of the battery system that best suits your requirements.

Step 2: Contact Us and Book a Consultation

Reach out to our dedicated Energy Solutions Consultants to discuss your energy needs and get a customised fit-for-purpose proposal. Schedule a free consultation to understand the best battery and solar system options for your home. Our experts will guide you through the available government incentives, including the upfront discount representing the rebate on battery installation costs and Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs).

          Step 3: Schedule Installation

Coordinate with us to schedule the installation of your battery system. Our energy solutions consultant will discuss timelines, installation requirements, and any necessary preparations on your part, such as site readiness. Throughout the installation process, maintain open communication with our team to address any questions or concerns promptly. We can ensure that the installation is conducted according to industry standards and complies with program guidelines to qualify for the rebate.

Step 4: Connect to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP)

Once you lock in your battery order now and be among the first to benefit from the rebate in November, your energy solutions consultant will discuss the option of connecting your battery system to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). We will provide guidance on selecting a VPP provider that aligns with your needs and preferences.
